Hello World!

Hi everyone. I am so excited about starting my very first blog. This blog is dedicated to my CS100W class at San Jose State University, so I would like to especially welcome my professor, Debra Caires, and my fellow classmates.

I fell in love with computer science when I took an introductory programming class in high school. The ability to make computers do certain things was beyond exhilarating and I was giddy with anticipation as to what else I could do. After writing a simple “Hello World” program and developing a Tic-Tac-Toe game, I knew I wanted to pursue the field of computer science and got the chance to do so at San Jose State University. Throughout high school, I learned the basics of Java, but it was not until college that I was truly able to solidify my java skills. I also learned about data structures and algorithms and object-oriented design. Currently, I am learning about database management systems, programming paradigms, and server web programming. I continue to develop my current skills to become a better programmer and look forward to gaining new technical skills.

I find everything about the field of computer science exciting. It is truly remarkable how computers are used to solve simple, everyday tasks to highly complex problems. I especially love how versatile this field is because it enables computer scientists to apply their skills in any other field. Currently, I am interested in mobile development, so I hope to use the skills I have gained so far in order to develop apps that people can enjoy. After graduating from college, I hope to get a job that allows me to develop new applications or expand upon existing application that people use.

  1. Your blog introduction post is very inviting and interesting, especially the bright background colors on your blog. I am intrigued about your passion of computer science by presenting your backstory of learning the basics of Java in high school and your past experiences in computer programming. I also agree with you that computers are our problem-solvers for our every day life. I think it is encouraging that you set your goals in studying computer science at San Jose State and follow your path to own success for your future career.

The picture of yourself in the post was semi-professional, just like mine. I used Photoshop to fix the lighting on my face for my blog photograph. Maybe you could do the same. For the second paragraph, it could have been outlined, starting from your experiences in high school through college. Sometimes I can be a perfectionist in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, so I recommend reading your drafted posts and check for any errors before posting them.

Overall, your blog post is amazing and it is the best way to start Fall semester with the positive attitude. Keep blogging.
